Attorney Jim Magazine:

“This is typical big business profits over people they are marketing the drugs for non intended purposes for profit-  At the expense of people.  This is the perfect example on why it is so important NOT TO HAVE TORT REFORM.    The fines were too small!   I would  bet the profits from the non intended sales far out weigh the fines”

Attorney Clementine Conde:

“The recent settlement reached between Drug manufacturer JOHNSON & JOHNSON and its subsidiaries and U.S. Attorney’s office  to pay $2.2 billion  highlights  the abuse by these companies on our Country’s most vulnerable citizens. This week JOHNSON & JOHNSON agreed to the settlements to cover claims  that they marketed three drugs that were never approved by the Food and Drug Administration.  Drugs such as Risperdal , which is a powerful drug used for schizophrenia  was marketed to elderly people  to treat dementia. Said drugs were administered to non-schizophrenic patients  in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This is not only  reprehensible from a moral standpoint but it is criminal as well. Companies like JOHNSON&JOHNSON make billions of dollars manufacturing drugs that –do help individuals lead better lives. The fact that they would market a drug to a group of individuals that do not need said drugs is an example of corporate greed. These companies need to be held accountable for their decisions by not only paying a fine, but with their  freedom. Their actions in marketing drugs that harm the elderly and mentally ill is no different than poisoning the water they drink.  While I applaud US Attorney, Eric Holder for pursuing said company, more needs to be done to ensure that our citizens are protected.”
