Rick is a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, Gulfport, Florida. Rick received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcasting in June 1984 from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 1987.
After passing the bar exam, Rick began his practice with the law firm of Keene, Hayes & Reese, where he practiced civil litigation, personal injury litigation, and criminal defense. Rick’s caseload included all types of cases, such as civil battery, defamation, drug possession, property insurance litigation, and hundreds of personal injury matters.
In 1993, Rick opened his own law practice in St. Petersburg with a focus on personal injury, while still handling some criminal defense and general civil litigation matters.
In 2000, Rick was appointed to the St. Petersburg City Council, where he was re-elected to terms in 2001 and again in 2003. He served as chair of the St. Petersburg City Council in 2005.
In 2006, Rick was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. Rick served as the ranking Democrat on the Committee on Energy for 3 years, and currently serves as the Democratic Caucus Policy Chair, where he advises his caucus on all policy matters.
After being elected to the Florida House, Rick closed his private practice and joined the firm of Saunders & Walker, P.A., where he continued practicing personal injury litigation and expanded his practice to include Mass torts.
After 5 years with Saunders & Walker, P.A., Rick joined Lucas, Green & Magazine.
Over the years, Rick’s experience ranges from handling misdemeanor to felony criminal cases. Rick’s civil experience ranges from contract work, employment disputes, name changes, auto accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, nursing home negligence cases, premises liability, product defects, mass torts, and battery claims.
Rick is committed to providing his clients with excellent service, with a special emphasis on client communication and on maximizing client settlements.
Rick is married to Kerry Kriseman for 18 years. They have two children.
